Technicolor provides online streaming service for LOVEFiLM UK

Technicolor is to provide an online streaming service for LOVEFiLM.com, a leading European film and TV subscription service, delivering film and TV shows instantly to subscriber’s PC’s and in the living room to their TV’s, as well as through its postal DVD rental service. LOVEFiLM has over 67,000 titles and 1.3 million subscribers.

As part of the agreement, Technicolor provides a state-of-the-art steaming service, coupled with proprietary session management services designed to support multiple business models and provide deep, meaningful usage statistics. The streaming service is supported by the company’s digital supply chain service, which includes content ingest, secure hosting on Technicolor’s in-house platform, policy-based fulfillment and delivery to the end consumer.

“Now, our powerful combination of instantly available digital content and DVD and Blu-ray rental is another enhancement of the value, choice and convenience proposition,” commented Simon Calver, CEO of LOVEFiLM. “We are now taking this service into the living room with Technicolor, helping to manage and distribute the movie and TV titles powering this service. We will continue to roll out new delivery channels and continue to invest in digital content in the coming months.”

As part of LOVEFiLM’s recent partnership announcements with Samsung and Sony, Technicolor will provide the online streaming service for LOVEFiLM’s application for Samsung’s Internet@TV service, and for Sony’s BRAVIA TV. LOVEFiLM will provide its unlimited subscription customers with a new way to access the service’s vast catalogue of movies through their Samsung and Sony TV’s. This new offering enables consumers to quickly access online streaming video content though their TV’s rather than only viewing on a small screen.
