Games e-tailer selects Sony DADC’s DRM solution

Sony DADC announced recently that GamersGate, an online retailer of downloadable PC games, has selected its SecuROM product activation as the digital rights management (DRM) for its line-up of downloadable PC games. These PC games come from a worldwide network of content partners.

Sony claims SecuROM is the fastest growing and most effective copy protection system for CD-ROM and DVD-ROM with some 200 million discs protected since 1997.

"At Sony DADC we have developed the digital rights management solution SecuROM to help content providers service multiple distribution channels," says Stefan Podhajski, global product manager at Sony DADC. "SecuROM is the only one-stop-shop in the global market that enables publishers to manage their content with one single DRM solution for both disc-based and online sales channels at every stage of the process, during pre-release, release and post-release.
