DVD recorder Asia-Pacific market slated for 'exponential growth'

Strong growth is expected from Asia-Pacific, with sales of both DVD players and recorders in the region expected to rise by 26.3 million units between the period 2007 to 2012, according to a recent report by Global Industry Analysts. In Japan, sales are projected to reach 23.1 million units by the year 2012.

The world market for DVD players and DVD recorders is dominated by Europe and Asia-Pacific with a combined 75.4% share estimated in the year 2007.

In the DVD player market, Asia-Pacific is expected to record robust CAGR of 23.06% over the analysis period of 2003 to 2012, while United States, and Japan are expected to witness declining demand.

Turbo-charging global growth is the DVD recorders market, which is expected to witness exponential growth to the tune of 28.2% over the analysis period of 2003 through 2012. Japan ranks as the largest market for DVD recorders with an estimated 38.5% share in the year 2007. Strong growth is however expected from Europe, which is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 30.7% over the same period. DVD recorder sales in Japan are expected to rise by 11.7 million units between the period 2007 to 2012, while in Europe for the same period, sales are expected to rise by 135.8%.
