Deluxe beefs up language services expertise with ECI acquisition

Deluxe Digital Studios has acquired the European Captioning Institute, a leading provider of subtitling, captioning, audio description and translation services for the film, television and home entertainment markets, as well as text translation services for the European Union and corporate clients.

Founded in 1995, ECI operates from its UK headquarters in London with a European hub in Athens and offices in Los Angeles. Under the management of Yota Georgakopoulou (a renowned academic) the company boasts one of the most experienced teams of translation and subtitling specialists in the world, capable of handling more than 70 languages. The list of clients is a Who’s Who of top film and TV publishers.

ECI was originally established by the National Captioning Institute (NCI), a non-profit US corporation that has pioneered, funded and developed media access services since the 1970s for the benefit of people who require specialised auditory and visual information.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc., Deluxe Entertainment Services Group is the leading provider of a wide range of entertainment industry services and technologies to major Hollywood Studios and an international client base.
