Dutch 3D platform launched

Multimedia and TV production company DutchView together with 3DNL, a platform for the promotion of 3D in the Netherlands, opened 3D LiveLab, a meeting place where manufacturers, producers, broadcasters and distributors will share information and experiences on 3D. The 3D LiveLab, hosted by DutchView in one of its TV studios, will be open until at least March 2011.

One issue to be considered is whether the currently bandwidth available to broadcasters and cable operators can accommodate 3D content delivery, especially in a home with multiple TV sets.

Zero Creative, a sponsor, installed there one of its autostereoscopic xyZ 3D displays on which 3D content can be shown without the need for 3D glasses. Zero Creative also demonstrates its 2D-to-3D conversion.

Next month (22-23 November), 3D LiveLab will organise a special 3D event "De 3D Dagen" (The 3D Days).
