PPC appoints senior designer to boost UMD/DVD dept

Picture Production Company’s (PPC) DVD team has appointed Steve Thompson (picture) as Senior Designer. This follows the expansion of the department into further areas such as Universal Media Disc (UMD) and DVD Games.

With over seven years of DVD design experience, Thompson will be taking creative lead on DVD and UMD menu design, overseeing a range of top film and TV clients including Pathé, Granada, 2 Entertain and BBC.

Previously Thompson was Creative Director at Stream Digital Media, working with clients such as Sony Computer Entertainment and EMI.

The appointment comes during a period of significant growth for PPC’s DVD department. Recent UMD projects include Thunderbirds (Best of – Series 1) and Ultimate Force Series 1. Thompson will also oversee the design development of interactive DVD Game projects. He is currently working on interactive content for a future Monty Python DVD Game release.

The company says the coming year is set to mark an increase in client base and a significant expansion of the DVD team and its project development.
