LoveFilm movie download service launched

LOVEFiLM.com, already the UK’s number one online DVD rental service, and a pioneer in the movie download, or video-on-demand market, will launch a tailored movie download service to UK customers through Intel Viiv technology-based PCs.

LOVEFiLM’s movie download service combines both major studio and independent film titles, including well known popular titles such as Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, Alexander and Batman, through to more specialist and niche titles. The service launches with approximately 500 movies in its library, which will be added to on a continuous basis.

The new Intel Viiv technology is designed to make it easier for families to download, view, manage and share digital entertainment on a wide variety of viewing screens and networked devices such as portable media players, digital TVs and routers.

Company CEO, Mark Livingstone said, “We are delighted to work with Intel to bring a selection of great movies to the new Intel Viiv technology-based PCs. This effectively means we bring our brand, our market leading experience in film delivery, and the best possible content to an exciting, new, innovative PC platform, making LOVEFiLM movie downloads accessible to a different audience.”

“LOVEFiLM’s service is well aligned with Intel’s digital home vision and the Intel Viiv technology platform to make digital entertainment effortless and enjoyable throughout the home,” said Steve Shakespeare, Intel UK director for Digital Home.
