Media-Tech's Barcelona convention builds

Already 48 industry leading companies have signed up for 69 booths to exhibit at Showcase event at the MEDIA-TECH Association’s Barcelona Showcase & Conference to be held at the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, Barcelona, on March 6-7 this year.

“The showcase is a valuable element of the two-day event, giving exhibitors access to the quality delegates for the conference streams, and for the large base of European replicators for whom this is the industry’s primary European showcase event,” notes MEDIA-TECH Managing Director, Bryan Ekus (pictured).

With the show re-scheduled for the Spring to match the time that replicators are looking for systems to cope with their 2007 season production demands, the Association expects a very positive event this year. The conference sessions cover the ongoing essential topics of BD and HD-DVD and move into the more generic third generation topics covering developments in High Def production and markets.

There will be panels covering RFID, a full schedule of manufacturers training sessions and a co-located conference presentation session from the International Disc Duplicators Association (IDDA).

All format supporters including the Blu-ray Disc Association, the DVD Forum, Toshiba and New Medium Enterprises have been invited to share the latest about their respective formats. Technical issues and aspects of the production of HD DVD shall be addressed by Laurent Villaume of French replicator Quantum as well
as by a manufacturer’s panel comprised of representatives of MEDIA-TECH member companies who will discuss open questions in the production of high-def formats.

Helen Davis Jayalath, Senior Analyst at Screen Digest, will give an outlook on HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc and the future of home entertainment in Europe. Dieter Höhler from Thomson will present the latest about the introduction of HDTV in Europe.

Furthermore, the MEDIA-TECH Association is pursuing new topics which go beyond its classic industry such as magnetics, flash memory and RFID. Of note is “Innovation Management”, the process how to find and develop new business opportunities.

In the afternoon, the Showcase exhibitors will have their word in the Training Sessions. These technical presentations will focus on production-related topics and provide attendees with the most up-to-date technical
and manufacturing expertise.
