Fox research claims Blu-ray take-up trunce HD DVD

Together with the announcement of a slate of 40 Blu-ray Disc titles due for release through the first half of 2007 in North America, BD-backer Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment released proprietary research data claiming that Blu-ray sales performance surpassed HD DVD for the first time the week of 24 December and did so by an impressive 20 per cent.

“What's more, by the end of the first quarter our research shows the sales gap widening to Blu-ray outselling HD DVD by a 3.5-to-1 ratio," noted Mike Dunn, President Worldwide, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Understanding & Solutions, a UK-based market analyst projects continually increasing market share for Blu-ray Disc beginning in 2007, and predicts that by 2010 virtually all HD optical disc hardware sold will be Blu-ray hardware, with all but the smallest fraction of movie content also on Blu-ray only.
