MPA launches anti-piracy trailer in Philippines

The Philippines Optical Media Board (OMB) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA) recently launched a new MPA-produced anti-piracy movie trailer in Manila, in conjunction with the preview screening of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

The trailer will be screened prior to feature film presentations in more than 150 cinemas nationwide. It features Filipino actors and a voice over by OMB chairman Eduardo Manzano, and was produced to make moviegoers aware of the laws protecting copyright and to encourage the public to reject pirated movies.

Manzano said, "By maintaining constant pressure on pirate strongholds, the Optical Media Board are determined to send a powerful message to the criminal gangs that damage the Philippines' creative industries and investment climate.”

The trailer launch is part of the MPA's anti-piracy enforcement campaign, code named Operation Tripod, running in 13 countries and territories across the Asia-Pacific region. Operation Tripod operations will be conducted in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
