VDC Group links with download-to-burn Filmon.com

VDC Group, the UK's largest manufacturer of DVDs and CDs, has partnered with Filmon.com, a new full-scale media download portal and a division of 111 Pictures to offer clients a new VOD/internet distribution service. The partnership will entail both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) operations.

Set to launch in September 2007, the Filmon network claims to be “the most sophisticated and comprehensive content management and distribution system available on the market today and is the very first online and offline service presenting studios, film and television sales organizations, distributors, producers and content owners with a universal platform that allows them to easily supply and manage their content online for download to any customer platform worldwide (i.e. PC, iPod, television set top box, etc.). Filmon offers feature films, television programming and other entertainment content for viewing on all platforms worldwide.”

Filmon.com’s exclusive “DVD on the Fly” patent-filed technology lets consumers create their own compilation DVDs, an attractive option that previously has not been available in the marketplace. Available on PC, Mac and Linux operation systems, Filmon.com gives customers the ability to take their favorite video content on-the-go by simply downloading features, trailers, TV episodes and stills from the website. There is also a 24-hour customer service line.

In addition to a secure content management software, content providers are given tools that allow them to manage their offline sales and distribution worldwide as well as market their library direct to customers online and with the same content manager, providers can also manage their retail inventory online.

Upon the systems launch there will be approximately 10,000 titles available, but the company plans to add thousands more films and hours of TV programming to its SuperMall through a broad range of content licensing agreements over the next few months.
