Bill Foster, Futuresource
Bill Foster, Senior Technology Consultant at Futuresource, is an expert on 3D technologies. He spoke at the 2nd Blu-ray Disc Academy 3D conference, Hamburg, 3-4 May 2011.
Bill started his career in the 1960s as a vinyl disc mastering engineer, then co-founded Tape One Studios in 1975, which grew to be one of the world's largest independent mastering facilities. From 1983 to 1992 Bill was a board member of the Association of Professional Recording Services (APRS) and head of its Technical Committee.
At the beginning of 2000, Bill joined the permanent staff of Futuresource as a Senior Consultant, with a specific brief to monitor new technology developments which impact the sectors in which the company operates. For the past three years, he has been monitoring developments of the 3D market and has built up a wealth of knowledge around this important growth sector. During this time he has authored or contributed to several reports on this topic, most recently on 3D display technologies, and the effect that the growing number of 3D display and glasses configurations may have on consumer uptake.
Bill is a member of the Royal Television Society and the Audio Engineering Society, where he is currently chairman of the UK Section.
